Vitamin C for dogs: useful even though they make their own
Dogs synthesise their own vitamin C, unlike people, but research still shows a benefit to supplementing it, which is why it appears in both Essential's antioxidant group and Move's joint-support blend, doing a slightly different job in each.
Why supplement something the body already makes
A study in healthy dogs found vitamin C supplementation improved measures of antioxidative capacity and immune parameters, even though dogs produce some on their own. That's the reasoning behind including it rather than assuming natural production covers every antioxidant demand the body faces.
A different role in Move: collagen
In Move, vitamin C's role shifts slightly: it contributes to normal collagen formation, a process essential for connective tissue maintenance, alongside the same antioxidant defence it provides in Essential. That combination supports the structural and antioxidant systems behind resilient joints, tendons and connective tissue during normal activity.
