Methylsulfonylmethane
MSM for Dogs
Supports structural integrity and normal cellular maintenance

MSM for dogs: an organic sulfur source, not a joint ingredient on its own
MSM's job is supplying sulfur, the raw material for structural proteins and connective tissue, which is why it appears in both Essential's general maintenance group and Move's joint-support blend, playing a different role in each.
What sulfur has to do with joints
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a bioavailable source of sulfur, an element proteins, enzymes and connective tissue all depend on. A systematic review of nutraceuticals in canine and feline osteoarthritis management covers MSM's place in structural and joint maintenance, alongside its broader role in cellular integrity.
In Move, MSM isn't positioned as a joint ingredient on its own; it supports the wider maintenance of tissues involved in movement, muscles and connective tissue alongside antioxidant systems, working alongside glucosamine and chondroitin rather than duplicating what they do.
Not the same job as glucosamine or chondroitin
MSM, glucosamine and chondroitin are often assumed to overlap because they all show up in joint formulas, but they act on different parts of the same problem: MSM supplies structural sulfur, glucosamine supplies cartilage-building material, and chondroitin manages hydration and cushioning. Move includes all three because none substitutes for the others.
