A coat that's lost its shine and a dog who's slightly less enthusiastic than they used to be are two of the easiest signs to miss, because neither looks like a problem on any single day. Both are usually connected to the same underlying causes: nutrient status, immune function, and general metabolic health, and both respond to the same kind of slow, consistent daily support rather than a quick fix.
A dull or dry coat
Coat quality is a reasonably reliable external marker of internal health. This one is harder to pin down, because "less energetic than before" is relative to a baseline only the owner really knows. A useful test: is it a gradual drift over months, or a sudden change over days? Sudden lethargy, especially with reduced appetite or other symptoms, needs a vet visit, not a supplement. A gradual dip that tracks with age, alongside otherwise normal eating, drinking, and toileting, is more often related to general immune and metabolic function than a distinct illness.
